Trading Updates: With Fresh Reassurances, ERHE Hangs On

ERHC Energy investors sent their stock lower in light volume this morning, but ERHE is back near its opening price of $0.685 after hitting a low of $0.65. Fresh reassurances that the awards would come within a week or so came from the authoritative Platts Oil daily, Sao Tome Natural Resources Minister Arlino Carvalho, and various figures at the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority (see preceding posts).

Part of the excitement came from a May 11 Daily Trust story found by ERHC On The Move sometime around 3am this morning (see earlier post), and that news was helped along by a new hurricaneoffor update:

****Update****

Called Sam Dimka and he said that expectation is that awards will be announced this week. I asked him about the STP news articles and he said all of that is "political rubbish" and that STP has elections soon. He said don't believe that mess. He said that the companies are eager to get this done so they can get to the business of oil. You can call Sam at 011 234 9 524 1069.

Update, 4:02pm, 5/11/05: We closed at $0.69 on volume of 1,093,500 shares. with the ending Ask at $0.70 and the ending Bid at $0.69. That's not bad considering all the turmoil we've encountered en route to awards.

Update, 3:55pm, 5/11/05: Just five minutes to the close, we're at $0.69, with the Bid just under that at $0.6880 and the Ask at $0.69, on volume of 1,077,000 shares. It apears that we will close without an appreciable gain or loss for the day, unless you count $613 from the ERHC On The Move portfolio of 123,040 shares.

Update, 3:40pm, 5/11/05: With 20 minutes to go, the price is stuck in a traffic jam, perhaps with all those people running out of the halls of Congress at noon today in another false alarm over a small private airplane. The price has slipped to $0.688, off $.007 for the day, and the Bid and Ask are $0.6875 x $0.69. Volume has climbed slowly to 1,064,800 shares.

Update, 3:29pm, 5/11/05: The Bid is $0.688, the Ask $0.69 and the price $0.89, with the volume at 1,022,300 after a disappointing Surge of just 23,000 shares. Trading has been uncertain and slow most of the afternoon.

Update, 3:08pm, 5/11/05: With close to 1 million shares sold just before the 3:15 Surge, our share price is up over yesterday's close, now to $0.70, with the Bid at the day's high, $0.687, and the Ask at $0.70. We think this reflects the new confidence traders are felling that awards will not be long bogged down in Sao Tome.

Update, 1:40pm, 5/11/05: The price is $0.686, the Bid, while the Ask is $0.69 and volume reaches 844,455 shares. Off to do some errands.

Update, 12:23pm, 5/11/05: Money.net is working again. The current volume is 757,305, with the price at $0.68 and the Bid at $0.69. However, the service provides the wrong number for the low of the day, which is $0.65, according to the New York Times.

Update, 10:5oam, 5/11/05: My Money.net Level II quotes are broken, and our earlier prices and volume were yesterday's closing prices. E*Trade shows the stock at $0.67, as does the New York Times, with the volume at 466,307.
The high for the day is $0.69 and the low $0.65, so we are trading mid-range

Mark is showing he is a bit naive. While I like Sam Dimka, he is the PR guy. So his job is to always paint a rosy picture so that everyone thinks the process is moving forward and everything is peachy.

Sam is like Baghdad Bob, that is his job. There could be bombs going off everywhere and good ole Baghdad Bob would make everything seem as if it was ok. That is what he is paid to do and that is what Sam Dimka is paid to do.

Like I said, I like Sam and think he is doing a great job. But it is just that, its his job.
