Trading Updates: Block 4 Confirmation Brings Gains; Heavy Volume At Open; Pioneer CEO Say It Expects Two Blocks In JDZ

Along with Pioneer Natural Resources' statement this morning that they expect to win two blocks in the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Zone, yesterday's tacit confirmation by Sao Tome natural resources minister Arlindo Carvalho that ERHC Energy and its partner Noble Energy won the coveted Block 4 operatorship over Anadarko Petroleum for a $57 million signature bonus ought to bring cheer today to ERHE investors.

In the past week, we have seen the stock slide dramatically as a series of delays bogged down the anouncement of block awards in the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Zone by its Joint Ministerial Council.

Now that trend ought to be about to reverse. Indeed, that's been the pattern for months now: sharp falls are followed by sharp gains that bring the share price higher than ever before. If the pattern holds, the share price ought to cross $0.90 within a few days as we gain more clarity about the timing of the awards announcement.

The concern over a furor caused by an RDP Radio Africa report in Sao Tome should recede, as government officials formally defended the award at a press conference yesterday and the issue seems now to be one of taming the objections of an opposition party that has been unable to block awards in the past.

Now for today's trading Updates.

As always, we deeply appreciate your support of this blog by clicking on the ads at right.

Update, 4:36pm EDT, 5/3/05 Great news for blog-bashers! Our Google AdSesne account has been disabled and they have taken away the $500 we earned through countless hours of hard work, apparently based on a false complaint filed by one of our readers.

Update, 4:15pm EDT, 5/3/05 A day without news is like a rose without sunshine,
but that didn't deter the buyers who came out in droves today. In 438 trades as of 4pm, ADVFN says there were 1,097,208 Buys to 779,422 Sells and 102,435 shares unidentified. There were 45,400 shares purchased in the last 10 minutes and just 2,300 sold, A sale of 1,300 shares at 3:59:44 brought the price down to $0.72, and a 500-share purchase thereafter at closing lifted it back to $0.73. There seemed to be strategic sales that pushed the price down throughout the day, so it appears that short-sellers remain active despite a preponderance of positive news. The last trade was a 1,200-share Form T buy at 4:02:49.

Update, 12:22pm EDT, 5/3/05 Kobiashi has a cogent post addressing the perceptions with respect to the bid prices in the second round of JDZ licensing. It's worth repeating:

Ken, first of all everyone in this area of the world is quite familiar with the practice of palm greasing and I'm sure is getting some monetary consideration to make a stink for someone. Second, the STP public doesn't understand the difference between the highest bidder winning and the best bids when you take into account the financial ability to pay the sig bonus, fund the exploration, fund the extraction and transportation of eventual oil and gas and technical capabilities to do so. They're upset because they see companies that bid $175 million for a block not getting awarded the block. Like so many others on this board they fall into the trap of highest bidder should win, when in fact the company Conoil that bid $175 million and $150 million for Blocks 2 and 4 had a grand total of $260 million in revenues for 2004. There is no way they could pay 325 million sig bonus upfront, and then pay for exploration and extraction anytime soon. But, the general public doesn't get it. ERHC with its partners is sitting on $2.7 billion cash, $12.4 billion in yearly revenues and around $3 billion in free cash flow. So who do you think can pay an upfront sig bonus, pay for exploration and extraction and has the technical capabilities to win exploit the oil? I'd go with ERCH with its partners over Conoil anyday of the week.

Update, 12:12pm EDT, 5/3/05 It's the close of the business day in Abuja and no awards announcement has yet occurred. Price, Bid and Ask are all unchanged with volume at 1,319,000.

Update, 12:09pm EDT, 5/3/05 This morning's bomb threat that has evacuated Miami Edison HS is the third at Miami high schools this morning. The price is $0.725, the Bid has moved back up to $0.72, and the Ask remains at $0.725 on volume of 1,313,300 shares.

Update, 12:05pm EDT, 5/3/05 The price has slipped back to $0.72 and the Bid has slipped to $0.715, while the Ask stays at $0.725, and volume climbs again to 1,311,300.

Update, 11:50am EDT, 5/3/05
A new article from Lusa has been posted by stockhocker70 on the Raging Bull ERHE message board and it puts a different slant on the Block 4 issue, suggesting that perhaps the effort to award it to ERHE was stopped by someone. The issue is, as the Vitrina article said yesterday, "unclear." Here is the new language:

Portuguese state radio RDP Africa reported last week that delays in announcing the results of the latest licensing round were the result of attempts to disqualify some bids in favor of firms with Sao Tomean leaders as shareholders.

Volume is 1,264,300 and price, Bid and Ask are unchanged.

Update, 11:23am EDT, 5/3/05 The price is $0.72, the Bid $0.715 and the Ask $0.72 on volume of 1,157,600 shares.

Update, 11:16am EDT, 5/3/05 We're trading in the middle of a $0.059 price range. Given the statement by Pioneer that they expect to win Blocks 2 and 3 with ERHC and Lusa's comments regarding our victory in Block 4, the price makes little or no sense below a dollar. Now the price slips to $0.715 again, the Bid, and the Ask falls to $0.72. on volume of 1,120,600 shares.

Update, 11:13am EDT, 5/3/05 Bomb threat at Miami Edison HS. The price moves up to $0.725, and the Bid rises to $0.72; the Ask is better at $0.725, and volume is now 1,106,600 shares.

Update, 11:10am EDT, 5/3/05 ERHC On The Move had 3,888 visitors (our second-highest day) and 77 clicks yesterday but we made just $6.36 due to the low-pay ads. Things are looking better today.

Update, 10:52am EDT, 5/3/05 Pioneer has mounted a conference call this morning that suggests it may win Blocks 2 and 3 with Denopn Energy PXD's partner, ERHC:

The Company continues to expand its offshore exploration program in West Africa. Pioneer was awarded acreage in Nigeria Block 320 and is awaiting government approval on Nigeria Block 256 and the potential award of two blocks in the Joint Development Zone between Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe.

These two minute price updates are really goofy. What value do you think you are providing?

Joe - I don't how or why you take the abuse by these fools. If I were you, I would disable the comments section. Serves no purpose. Let these idiots keep posting their dribble on RB. Your doing a good job with the updates -keep it up!

I don't post on RB - cause it is a cesspool - but honestly - the sheep that fall for all these con artists and their "inside" info is hilarious. Anyone who can't see that Specualtor, OrangeandWhite and all the other scam artists that are claiming to have special "Contacts" - don't deserve to have a computer, let alone be allowed to invest in a stock!

It really would be entertaining - if it wasn't so sad.

A bunch of liars and cheats and round and round it goes - these guys are laughing their azzes off at the sheep!

Anyway - someday, longs on these BB stocks will learn that they are their own worst enemy!

I agree that most of the time the longs are their own worst enemy. They make it easy for the bashers to have a good time thats for sure.

They look like fools with their minute by minute obsession over this stock.

Last week was a perfect example. They started acting like it was a certainty that award news would be out last Monday or Tuesday. When others disagreed and said it might be a few weeks they act as if you are a basher.

So in sum the longs make absolute fools of themselves on a regular basis. Having said that I chalk it up to irrational exuberance.

I believe Mark and Swing and Speculator. Mark usually posts the contact info so anyone can call to verify. So I have to disagree that they are perpetuating a scam. That is not the case. I think they are well intentioned its just that the situation is constantly evolving so their sources usually end up being wrong.

As for the bashers. They are more malicious. They are borderline criminal. They are not well intentioned. They are purposely trying to lye, manipulate and decieve.

So we are talking about two different things here.

How do you interpret this statement from pioneer:

"Pioneer was awarded acreage in Nigeria Block 320 and is awaiting government approval on Nigeria Block 256 and the potential award of two blocks in the Joint Development Zone between Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe."

as Pioneer "expects to win two blocks"?? Quite a loose interpretation...

Has anyone ever tried picking up the phone and calling the company for information? Usually in a long group, there are a few that keep in contact with the company- and although the company can not issue insider info - they can give some type of update and provide some useful information. Surely folks that have been in ERHE as long as some have, would have some repoire with someone at the company? No?

Instead - people go to secret rendevous meetings in a bar! I got a white jag - I'm the one with the tupee! And then there is the guy who shows up un-invited, and picks up the check - hilarious and classic....the horse fodder rolls on and all are willing to back the source of horse fodder!

"While sitting in my brokers office this morning - LMAO at how I manipulate the sheep! I found out something that NOBODY can find out - Chrome bought 1 million shares of ERHE in the open market - but to make the story sound believable - I will call it 923,001 and a half! LMAO"

As for the bashers, no better then the pumpers. Each side has an agenda on a message board! The truth lies in the middle somewhere though.

Be Well....

Perhaps if you would do as you say, you would not have to ask such questions. Do you have a working telephone? If so, use it...

BTW, I don't wear a tupee.

Joe I have been on here defending you most of the week but then you go and make assinine assumptions like the one you made today and make both of us look like fools.

So how is it that you interpreted the Pioneer CEO's comments to mean they won 2 block awards??

That is absolute nonsense. That is not what the CEO of Pioneer said. Your interpretation of certain events is what gets you into trouble.

Just like yesterday when you interpeted Mutwidadi's comments to mean block awards by Friday. That is not what Mutwidadi said.

No Tupee? Maybe a fake mustache then during your secret meeting! LoL

I don't need to call - just swing the crap out her and continue to be amazed about long boards on RB. It is by far my best leading indicator! LMAO

PS - if the awards eventually do come true to any degree of success - I hope I'm in. Otherwise, I will hitch a ride if she decide to go up! If they fall apart, I hope I'm out!

Your a typical short term trader. Arrogant and happy over a 10% gain.Big deal. Im not impressed. Not to mention the taxes you have to pay due to no long term capital gains.

I would rather hold long for a 10 bagger than sit around and gloat over a 10% profit. Traders are pussies as far as Im concerned. Snot nosed ones at that.

They have no foresight or balls to make real money.

Oh yes - the hold and pray theory! I've heard of that. How's that working out? LMAO - Seems to me, this stock was at .90 or better a year ago or so. Hmmmmm - now at .70, a few months ago at .20.

Let's do the math - 8 or so round trips of 20% to 40% gains - hmmmmmmm - yep, my family eats.

Actually thought of holding this one a bit, but then I checked my leading indicator - RB - and went straight back to trading it.

No hold and paying here. And arrogant? Not really. Opinionated perhaps......Happy? - as long as I'm not a bagholder or dreamer. Check the CMKX board for that. Or about 2000 other long boards,(take your pick) where holding, hoping and praying goes on relentlessly and longs victories are mostly short lived, cause they Never sold. That's the greed part of human nature. The lottery ticket theory.

And name calling? Hmmmmmm, what are you insecure about that you have to resort to name calling and derogatory comments? A bit frustrated are we? not nice.

10 baggers are few and far between and never seem to work out for large groups of longs. I hope this one does work out for you folks though - it's a great story!

I have plenty of 10 baggers. TGA for one. Have you ever even heard of the stock? Probably not. Because you have no foresight.

I bought TGA at .48 and its at $5.15 now.

I bought ERHE at .50 and expect it to do the same.

Meanwhile you will be telling all of your friends how you made a 20% gain in your portfolio for 2005. Big deal. I am not impressed. Traders are pussies plain and simple.

If you went long on a stock it probably would be hold and pray. Because you dont know how to to due diligence and you dont know the first thing about stocks.

For those of us who do know what they are doing its called a nice long term investment.

Good luck to you.

How's that 10 bagger doing? What happens IF EHRE gets completely dissqualified from any awards due to corruption? Does the 10 bagger thing work in reverse too? LMAO
